This is a lovely hotel in Moreton-in-Marsh. We tried their 2010 Christmas Special and enjoyed it very much. The hotel was warm and comfortable; the staff very attentive at all times.
It is quite a highly rated hotel so we expected a high standard but our 'superior' room seemed small, we had to move the chair to open the wardrobe and move it back to get to the bed. Similarly the neat suitcase rack blocked access to most of the drawers in the chest of drawers! The bed was comfortable but it creaked when one party turned over but that wasn't nearly as bad as the creaking from the floorboards in the room above ours during the night! Even though the occupants were merely getting out of bed to visit the bathroom the sound of the creaking as they walked around the room was enough to disturb our sleep!
We thought that the restaurant was magnificent, the food delicious and the service generally great. However, on our first night we had been at our table for 90 minutes before the starter arrived! On other occasions our next course arrived before we had finished the last one, but these were acceptable wrinkles on an otherwise excellent service.
We thought the prices a little high, especially the wine £18 for a screw-top bottle of plonk is rather too much!
Overall however we enjoyed our stay but felt that the expense was unjustified.
